The Path to the Mantis Contract

The Mantis Contract is one of the most prestigious and difficult contracts to obtain in Devil Hunter. Unlike contracts that simply require Yen or luck, the Mantis Contract demands a display of pure combat skill. It is currently categorized as an S-Tier contract due to its incredible utility in PvP and combo extension capabilities.

Step 1: Finding the Devil

The Mantis Devil is not a static spawn. You can encounter it through several methods:

  • Missions: "Hold the Line", "Aftermath Detail", and "Cleanup Duty" have high spawn rates.
  • Devil Doors: Can spawn from purple/red devil doors.
  • Random Encounters: Rarely spawns in the sewer or city districts.

Step 2: The Challenge

This is the hardest part. Once you engage the Mantis Devil, you must meet strict criteria to qualify for the contract:

  • Deal >70% Damage: You must be the primary damage dealer. In a group, you must out-dps everyone significantly.
  • Take <10% Damage: You must finish the fight with nearly full health. You cannot trade hits.

Step 3: Post-Fight Quests

Defeating the devil flawlessly is not enough. Upon success, you will receive a questline that must be completed to unlock the abilities:

  1. Exterminate 10 Bug Entities:

    Locate Cockroach Devils or small insect mobs. These are often found in the Sewer District or during specific infestation events. Any bug-type enemy counts.

  2. 4 Finishers with Mantis Arm:

    You will temporarily unlock the "Mantis Arm" skill. You must use this specific skill to deal the killing blow to 4 enemies. The easiest way to do this is to weaken low-level thugs to ~5% HP and then use the skill.

Is Mantis Contract Worth It?

Absolutely. Even after multiple updates, the ability to extend combos with a ranged grab remains invaluable. The difficult obtaining method is a barrier that keeps it exclusive to dedicated players, serving as a badge of honor in itself.
