Ultimate Guide to Fiend Fear & Skill Progression

The Power of Fear

Unlike Humans who rely on physical training and weapon mastery, Fiends in Devil Hunter grow powerful through a unique resource called 'Fear'. This mechanic represents the Fiend's demonic nature—as they consume the essence of other devils, their own latent abilities manifest. Understanding the Fear system is the single most important aspect of playing a Fiend. It acts as both your level and your skill tree key. Without accumulating Fear, even a Fiend with high stats will be limited to basic attacks, missing out on the devastating supernatural powers that define the class.

1How to Increase Fear Level

Fear is primarily obtained by consuming 'Devil Flesh' and specific body parts dropped by defeated enemies. There is a hierarchy of consumption that yields different amounts of progress. 1. **Devil Flesh**: The staple diet of any growing Fiend. It comes in Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Epic varieties. Epic Flesh provides a massive boost and is highly coveted. 2. **Body Parts**: Specific organs like Hearts, Eyes, and Arms also grant Fear. These are often rarer drops from specific bosses or high-level enemies. 3. **Raid Drops**: World Events like the Zombie Devil Raid are goldmines for Fear resources. The bosses here drop high-tier flesh and parts that can propel you through multiple Fear levels at once. **Pro Tip**: Always complete your daily 'Hold the Line' missions. The sheer volume of enemies ensures a steady supply of Common and Uncommon flesh, which adds up quickly over time.

2Universal vs. Specific Skills

The Skill Gate for Fiends is divided into two categories. 'Universal Skills' are available to every Fiend regardless of their origin. These include essential utilities like 'Smell' (ESP for tracking) and 'Bite' (a dash-grab). These form the backbone of your survival kit. 'Specific Skills' are unique to your chosen Fiend type (Blood, Angel, Nail, etc.). These are your signature moves. For example, while every Fiend can 'Dropkick' at Fear 20, only a Blood Fiend can summon 'Blood Scythe' at Fear 30. Using our calculator above allows you to see both trees simultaneously so you can plan your build effectively.

Fiend Archetypes Explained

**Angel Fiend**: A balanced fighter that can summon holy weapons. Their 'Materialize' skill at Fear 10 is versatile, allowing them to adapt to different combat ranges. Their ultimate 'Year Drain' provides sustain, making them excellent duelists.
**Blood Fiend**: The king of area denial and range. With 'Blood Knives' available from the start and 'Blood Hammer' at Fear 10, they excel at controlling space. Their max-level 'Blood Scythe' has incredible reach.
**Shark Fiend**: An aggressive rusher. 'Dive' allows them to attack from underground, bypassing traditional defenses. Their 'Jaws' transformation at Fear 25 turns them into a relentless biting machine.
**Nail Fiend**: A tactical trapper. They use their hammer for heavy strikes but really shine with 'Nail Impalement' at Fear 25, which sets deadly traps for unsuspecting players.

Farming Strategy for Fast Progression

To reach Fear 30 as quickly as possible, you should adopt a specific loop. Start by farming the 'Cleaner' or 'Aftermath' missions until you reach Fear 10. Once you unlock your first major offensive skill (like Blood Hammer or Materialize), you can tackle 'Hold the Line' efficiently. Save your Yen! You can often find players selling stacks of Devil Flesh in the marketplace. Buying your way to power is a valid strategy in Devil Hunter if you have the funds. Additionally, join a squad for Raids. Even if you don't deal the most damage, tagging the boss often qualifies you for loot drops that can give you essential body parts.
