Understanding Devil Contracts
In Devil Hunter, contracts are supernatural agreements between human characters and Devils. Unlike gacha games, Devil Hunter does NOT use a spinning/gacha system for contracts. Instead, each contract has specific requirements you must fulfill to obtain it. This makes contract acquisition feel more rewarding and skill-based rather than luck-based.
Important Note: Only human characters can form contracts with Devils. If you're playing as a Fiend, you cannot use contracts at all. Fiends have their own powers that develop differently through eating Devil Flesh and other methods.
Contracts grant you powerful abilities that can be used in combat. Each Devil offers unique abilities - from the Frog Devil's tongue pull to the Ghost Devil's devastating slam attack. Choosing the right contract for your playstyle is crucial for success in both PvP and PvE content.
Contract Acquisition Methods
There are five main ways to obtain contracts in Devil Hunter. Understanding each method will help you plan your journey to getting the contracts you want.
Offering Items
Many contracts require you to offer specific items to a Devil. For example, offer a Fly Fiend Head to the Frog Devil, or a Human Heart to the Leech Devil. Gather the required items first, then find the Devil's location.
Completing Quests
Some contracts involve multi-step quests. The Future Devil requires 30 Devil Eyes plus beating a rhythm minigame. The Curse Devil has an extensive quest involving killing multiple devil types and completing world events.
Raid Drops
The Ghost Devil Contract has a 10% drop chance from the Katana Man Raid (2nd floor Ghost Devil). The Zombie Devil Contract has a 10% drop chance from the Zombie Raid (Yakuza only). These are the only RNG-based contracts.
Defeat Conditions
The Mantis Devil Contract requires you to deal over 70% of the Mantis Devil's damage while taking less than 10% damage yourself. This rewards skilled combat and preparation.
Most contracts can be obtained through deterministic methods - if you meet the requirements, you get the contract. Only Ghost and Zombie contracts involve random drop chances from raids.
Legendary Contracts
The rarest and most powerful contracts. Ghost Devil offers devastating grab attacks and can be summoned when knocked out at max favor. Future Devil provides counter abilities. Zombie Devil summons bodyguards. Curse Devil inflicts fear.
Epic Contracts
Powerful contracts that require significant effort. Fox Devil needs ¥50,000 plus 10 body parts. Snake Devil requires 20 hearts and passing a trial (Yakuza only). Bat Devil demands a human sacrifice plus defeating it in combat.
Rare Contracts
Accessible contracts that still offer solid abilities. Frog Devil pulls enemies with its tongue. Fish Devil slaps enemies. Leech Devil hits multiple targets. Mantis requires combat skill. Sea Cucumber shoots acid.

Many contracts require you to reach a certain Hunter Rank before you can obtain them. Here's what each rank unlocks:

Best Contracts by Purpose
Different contracts excel in different situations. Here are our recommendations based on your goals:
🗡️ Best for PvP
Ghost Devil (grab & slam combo), Future Devil (counter attacks), Snake Devil (forces ragdoll). These contracts can turn the tide of player vs player battles.
🛡️ Best for PvE
Leech Devil (AoE damage), Zombie Devil (bodyguards), Curse Devil (fear stacking). Great for clearing missions and raids efficiently.
🌱 Best for Beginners
Tomato Devil (easy to get, holds enemies), Frog Devil (pulls enemies, just need Fly Fiend Head), Stone Devil (petrification, just need cleaning supplies).
⚡ Best All-Rounders
Fox Devil (bleeding + damage), Bat Devil (area roar attack), Ghost Devil (versatile at max favor). These contracts work well in any situation.
Expert Contract Tips
Follow these tips to efficiently obtain and use contracts in Devil Hunter:
- Start with easy contracts (Tomato, Frog, Stone) while you learn the game mechanics and build up your rank.
- Check the Black Market every 15 minutes - it's the best source for items like Human Hearts and Arms needed for contract offerings.
- For raid contracts (Ghost, Zombie), join low-population servers to avoid competition and complete raids faster.
- NEVER lie to the Snake Devil if you're going for that contract - it will attack you immediately!
- For the Mantis contract, practice your combat first. You need to deal 70%+ damage while taking less than 10%.
- Save 50,000 Yen before attempting the Fox Devil contract - you need to pay Keeper Renji for access.
Remember: Fiends cannot use contracts! If you're playing as a Fiend character, focus on eating Devil Flesh to gain Fear and develop your Fiend powers instead.
